Status: Ongoing Begin date: October 1, 1994 End date: No set date

Description

Families Count! is based on the nationally known program, Family Math, published by the University of California-Berkeley. The Clerc Center has taken that program and expanded it to include sign language instruction and activities to make it more beneficial to families with deaf and hard of hearing children. Families Count! is a program that helps families and their children develop a positive attitude toward mathematics. Parents learn how to correctly sign math-related concepts using math games, activities, and read-alouds. The Clerc Center is in the final production stage of the Families Count! Kit that contains all the necessary instructions, activities, and materials to run the three-level, four-week program. The kit includes a training handbook and videotape, instructional sign language videotapes, videotapes of signed books, and activities with instructions and manipulatives.
