Disability in the Foreign Language Classroom
| Status: Ongoing | Begin date: January 1, 2002 | End date: October 30, 2006 |
Description
Panelists and audience members at a recent meeting of the Modern Language Association confirmed that foreign language teachers are taking a learn-as-you-go approach to finding appropriate materials and expanding their teaching repertoires to motivate and retain college students with disabilities. It is clear that a volume in which experts assemble such materials is sorely needed by college teachers committed to teaching foreign languages to a full spectrum of interested students. To that end, the investigators are developing a volume that seeks to outline what theoretical and practical tools are needed to develop the fullest and most rigorous language instruction possible for all students, including those with disabilities. The editors are continuing to work on their own submissions for the volume, and have edited drafts by other contributors.
