Literacy Project/Reading to Deaf Children: Learning from Deaf Adults
| Status: Ongoing | Begin date: Oct 10, 1996 | End date: No set date |
Description
This component of the literacy program focuses on the application of 15 principles for reading with deaf and hard of hearing children. These principles were developed from research studying effective communication strategies deaf adults use when reading to deaf and hard of hearing children. A manual and videotape, Reading to Deaf Children: Learning from Deaf Adults, was developed in 1997. Workshops on these strategies are given to schools, programs and family organizations.
