Description
This project entails a 5-day training session for teachers and staff at schools and programs throughout the United States. Teachers and staff members learn about Literacy-It All Connects, Reading to Deaf Children: Learning from Deaf Adults, Read It Again and Again, Leading from Behind: Language Experience in Action, Shared Reading Project; What We are Learning, as well as intensive reading and discussion about reading and writing with deaf and hard of hearing children and young adults. In June, 2005, 26 professionals in education of deaf and hard of hearing students were trained at this year's Summer Literacy Institute at the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University.
