Transition: A Life-Long Process
| Status: Ongoing | Begin date: Sept 1, 1995 | End date: No set date |
Description
Transition is one of the three National Mission priority areas at the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center. It is a life-long process through which individuals come to understand themselves as they relate to the world of work. It occurs through participation in a continuum of developmental activities available through both formal and informal experiences, in and outside of institutions and agencies. Successful transition involves a comprehensive system of partnerships between the educational system, the home and family structure, and business, industry, government, and a variety of community agencies and organizations. This priority area incorporates many topics related to transition, including: career development, community building, positive discipline, and social-emotional development.
