A Classroom-Based Assessment of Faculty ASL Skills and Communicative Competence
| Status: Completed | Begin date: January 2005 | End date: September 2005 |
Description
This study explored the usefulness and potential implementation of a classroom-based assessment of faculty ASL skills and communicative competence as part of a comprehensive, multiple-measures approach to signed language evaluations at Gallaudet University. The information obtained from the assessments can be reviewed alongside signed language proficiency levels such as measured by the SCPI. The goal of the study was to see what can be learned from the two kinds of measures and how both sources of information can be helpful to the individual in their learning process, and result in a more equitable and fair evaluation system.
