Description
Gallaudet University, along with other local universities and organizations comprising the District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium, participates in supporting educational and student financial assistance programs that develop infrastructure related to NASA and its strategic missions. During this reporting interval, (1) a fellowship competition will be conducted and three $5000 fellowship awards made available to students pursuing advanced degrees in the sciences, (2) a 5-day summer GLOBE Program teacher training workshop was conducted to certify teachers, (3) software was maintained supporting NASA educational and research activities by Dr. Snyder and undergraduate teaching, (4) support for 1 MSSD botball team to be trained and compete in the 2006 Botball regional competition at the University of Maryland (MSSD finished 9th out of 46 teams from 39 schools and organizations), (5) a new online course on weather is being offered by Dr. Snyder and (6) student balloon sounding investigations are planned to take place in Fall 2006 (Gallaudet Earth System Science classes) and Spring 2007 (in collaboration with Maryland Space Grant) .
